Guacamole

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 red or white onion
  • 1/2 tomato
  • 1/8 jalapeņo, stem and seeds removed
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons lime or lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of freshly grated black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to your taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cumin powder

Directions:

  1. Chop 1/2 onion finely and put it in a fine mesh strainer. Rinse onion under running water and soak in water for 5 minutes. Press onion in the strainer to get rid of as much water as you can.
  2. Cut avocados in half. Remove seeds. Scoop the meat with spoon. Put it in a bowl and mash until it becomes puree.
  3. Finely chop serrano chile, cilantro, 1/2 tomato, and garlic and add to the mashed avocado.
  4. Add and mix in remaining ingredients.
  5. Garnish with chili powder. Serve with tortilla chips.
