Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

| Pare, core and slice: |

4 cups tart apples |
| Season with: |

2 tablespoons lemon juice, grated
lemond rind
and place them into a 9-inch pan or dish

| Mix with a pastry blender or with the fingertips: |
| |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 teaspoon salt, if butter is unsalted
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Spread these crumbly ingredients over the apples.
Bake about 30 minutes at 375°F (190°C). Serve hot with ice cream. |
